I agree with the article Too
cool for school? No way! Technology should be implemented into the
classroom as it offers up a wide variety of opportunities for students to learn
in fun and enjoyable ways. Technology also assists teachers with teaching a new
topic or elaborating it.
Technology in classrooms also provides students with
motivation as in today’s society students have grown up with and are surrounded
by it. The reliance students today have on technology is at a high because,
it’s a part of everyday life and incorporating it within the classroom only
makes sense. There are also many available resources to use now and it is only
increasing as technology is proving to be a hit with teachers, students and
parents.
I also believe that traditional methods of teaching should
not be disregarded. Students still need to learn how to write without using a
touch screen in front of them. The correct pencil grip I believe still needs to
be taught because once high school is reached, writing for three hours in an
exam is required. Personally I believe spelling is a big issue within society,
because technology offers up auto correct option hence, an easy way out. Basic
spelling skills still need to be learnt which of course can be done using
technology e.g. smart board but, it is the question whether students remember and
apply the basic skills without the use of auto correct.
Although, we are a technology based society and is a part of
our everyday lives whether some teachers accept it or not. I believe teachers
who don’t know how to use smart boards should attend courses to learn how to
use it, because otherwise they shy away from using technology and student miss
out on the wonderful resources available. A balanced use of technology, desk
and collaborative work should be used within the classroom in order to expose
the students to all angles of learning within the classroom. So in conclusion I
agree with the article but, everything in moderation.
